“He was afraid to tell Eli what the Lord had said to him.” 1 Samuel 3:15 NLT

God was calling out to Samuel. He would wake up and run to Eli, because he thought Eli was calling him. After the third time Eli knew it was the Lord calling out. He told Samuel “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak Lord, your servant is listening.’” 1 Samuel 3:9

The message in the devotional is to “get into the habit of saying, ‘Speak, Lord,’ and life will become a romance. Every time circumstances press in on you, say, ‘Speak, Lord,’ and make time to listen.

We can’t rush around or blunder into service to God. All day long as life and circumstance occur, we must pray, and be one with God. Asking Him to speak to us. But we can’t hear when we are talking so we have to get quiet and listen. If we are too busy with our hands or our mouths, we may never hear His Voice.
