OC May 2

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Title - “The Patience To Wait for the Vision”

Underlines:

“Patience is not the same as indifference; patience conveys the idea of someone who is tremendously strong and able to withstand all assaults.”

“Having the vision of God is the source of patience…”

“A person who has the vision of God is not devoted to a cause or to any particular issue – he is devoted to God himself.”

“You always know when the vision is of God because of the inspiration that comes with it. Things come to you with greatness and add vitality to your life because everything is energized by God.”

“It is a bad thing to be satisfied spiritually.”

“Our reach must exceed our grasp.”

“ If we have only what we have experienced, we have nothing. But if we have the inspiration of the vision of God, we have more than we can experience.”

“Beware of the danger of spiritual relaxation.”

Notes:

Patience is an often discussed topic in my men’s group. When I hear “vision” I am thinking of actual visual affects either in the mind or outside of it. But as I think about what Chambers wrote, vision just means vision.

Do we try to see everything with our own eyes, or through the eyes of God.

Do we see our good works and content ourselves with where we are spiritually? Or are we so far from being the person we want to be that our vision is further clouded that way?

At the end, it says, “if we have the inspiration of the vision of God, we have more than we can experience.”

Being inspired to see things the way God sees things should give us awe and amazement. With the intricacies with which He has created this world and each and every person in it.

I know that if we saw things that way, we would know better how to serve and be inspired to do so.

So don’t rush into anything. Be patient and wait on the Lord. Be steadfast not spiritually indifferent. Devote yourself to God and in alignment with Him, His will/vision will be revealed.
