OC January 29th

“‘Who are you lord?’ I asked. And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting.” Acts 26:15

The next verse in Paul’s conversion. Jesus speaks to him, revealing Himself.

The devotional continues with the focus being listening to God and not plowing ahead in our own self-will and determinations.

“God has to destroy our determined confidence in our own convictions. We say, ‘I know that this is what I should do” - and suddenly the voice of God speaks in a way that overwhelms is by revealing the depths of our ignorance.”

Jesus was calling Paul into service. Be mindful of how you serve God. Is it in your own way for your own self satisfaction?

“We presume that whatever is unpleasant is our duty! Is that anything like the spirit of our Lord - ‘I delight to do Your will, O my God …’ (Psalm 40:8).”

Tracing back to yesterday - oneness with God. That is where our delight should be, and any and all things done for Him will then bring us joy and delight.
