OC January 19th

“As the sun was going down, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a terrifying darkness came down over him” Genesis 15:12 NLT

This verse comes after God’s covenant with Abram. To make him into a great nation. To give him as many descendants as stars in the sky, and lands to occupy.

“Whenever God gives a vision to a Christian, it is as if He puts him in ‘the shadow of His hand’ (Isaiah 49:2). The saint’s duty is to be still and listen.”

The waiting is hard for us. So we put faith and trust in other people, myself, blessings, joys/pleasures, books, etc. God tells us over and over that He is sufficient. He is enough. That we need no more and no less than all of Him. But we want to force things. Press things into our agenda.

We have to get to the spot where we are content to wait. Where God is so real to us that “… people pale by comparison, becoming shadows of reality. Nothing that other saints do or say can ever upset the one who is built on God.”

Lord, I want all my advice and direction to come from You. Give me discernment as I travel the way.
