OC January 17th

“But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by His marvelous grace. Then it pleased Him to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles.” Galatians 1:15-16 NLT

In todays devotional Chambers is discussing the difference between Gods call and service.

“The call of God is an expression of His nature; the service which results in my life is suited to me and is an expression of my nature.”

“Service is the overflow which pours from a life filled with love and devotion. But strictly speaking, there is no call to that.”

“Service to God is the deliberate love-gift of a nature that has heard the call of God. Service is an expression of my nature, and God’s call is an expression of His nature.”

Service is not the call. Service is the response to the call. In Paula’s sake that was to be a missionary and to spread the Gospel to non-Jews. Ultimately I believe that is the direction that all service points towards. Acts to show your love for others to hopefully lead them into knowing Christ. So the call of God is hearing His voice. Understanding your role in His plans and giving up on your way of doing things. Like was discussed yesterday, if you are set in your ways. You will never hear the call
