OC November 11th
Today’s devotional from “My utmost for His highest” focuses on God’s request to Abraham to sacrifice his prized son Isaac.
“He said, ‘Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.’” - Genesis 22:2
Some quotes:
“God’s command is, ‘Take now,’ not later. It is incredible we debate! We know something is right, but we try to find excuses for not doing it immediately.”
“Abraham did not choose what the sacrifice would be. Always guard against self-chosen service for God. Self-sacrifice may be a disease that impairs your service.”
“God chose the test for Abraham, and Abraham neither delayed nor protested, but steadily obeyed. If you are not living in touch with God, it is easy to blame Him or pass judgement on Him. You must go through the trial before you have any right to pronounce a verdict, because by going through the trial you learn to know God better.”
My takeaways are to readily and steadfastly obey. To no pick and choose my service or sacrifice but to allow God to work through me in all circumstances and situations. To not delay and debate but to act and to insure God is the focus and all the glory goes to Him.
