Discipleship
“To play it safe is the most risky decision we could make. To risk is the safest decision we can make with God. No matter the short-term implications, we must obey God with reckless abandon.” Ed Stetzer
I copied this quote onto the notes of my phone after reading it. Dr. Jim Denison quoted this on his site the Denison Forum. He was the pastor at Park Cities Baptist while I attended and where my parents still attend. He has a great daily article about world news and how it relates to Christians and how we can respond and interpret. Here is a link to that post.
The next note down on my phone has the title: Memorize. It is the following scripture
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT
Just reflecting on these two old notes and how all the things I have jotted down point to my desire to serve Him with reckless abandon. To be bold for Him because He promises so much to us that will always fill us up, where the world will leave us empty.
