“So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.”
2 Corinthians 5:9 NLT
“The Servant’s Primary Goal”
Underlines:
“It requires a conscious decision and effort to keep our primary goal constantly in front of us.”
“…making our first priority… ‘to be well pleasing to Him.’”
“Paul was like a musician who gives no thought to audience approval; if he can only catch a look of approval from his Conductor.”
“Any goal we have that diverts us… from the central goal of being ‘approved to God’ (1 Timothy 2:15) may result in our rejection…”
“I must learn to relate everything to the primary goal.”
“My worth to God publicly is measured by what I really am in my private life.”
“MY WORTH TO GOD PUBLICLY IS MEASURED BY WHAT I REALLY AM IN MY PRIVATE LIFE.”
Notes:
- our goal - please Him
- but are we too worried about pleasing/impressing others, or too worried about their rejection and not Gods
- what is your goal?? There is nothing higher or more important than pleasing Him
- in body or spirit our goal is to please Him
What a great devotional today to knock things into perspective. Judge not, before you judge yourself. Take a look at yourself and your goals in life. What do they point to? Are you living a life pleasing to Him. This is not a grandiose thing. It means simple day to day, every day actions and interactions are what we can test ourselves by. But don’t pat yourself on the back or look for accolades.
Someone once told me to go do something for someone else - something for God - and don’t tell anybody about it. That little test reveals a lot about your heart.
So I’m going to focus on the little things, starting with my personal life and loved ones. Let my service bloom out of that.
